> This was on TV the other day and even though I love this movie, have seen it a dozen times, and have it on DVD, it was the first time I noticed the Buddy Holly waiter at Jackrabbit Slim’s. “Hey, that’s Steve Buscemi!” :smack: :smack: :smack:
> (Don’t know why I never caught that before)

This is one of those films that you see something new every time you watch

> I think that’s probably a minority opinion. And if you don’t think movies are super fun, I can see why his movies might not appeal to you.

Actually, I like most of his movies, including “Pulp Fiction.” It’s just that when I saw the trailers for “Resevoir Dogs”–a bunch of guys in matching black suits, pointing handguns at each other–I could only think: “This guy must have some kind of performance complex, and a really pathetic urge to be ‘cool’.” It didn’t help that I had to sit through all of “From Dusk to Dawn.” I refused to pay the $7.50 (or whatever it was back then) to see “Resevoir Dogs,” but eventually I saw it. Tarantino has put out some nice movies, but they always seem to be despite himself. He’s okay, but really overrated.

Oh, and movies really are just “super.” What else _would_ they be?

I felt that way about him until _Kill Bill_, which struck me as Tarantino winking at the camera and masturbating for 2 hours to the thought of how incredibly cool and clever he is. Twice.

I really think he peaked with _Jackie Brown_. That, to me is his best work and everything he’s done since has been downhill.

> I juts wanted to point out that the only authoritative reference for what’s in the movie is the movie. Even if it says it in the script, if it’s not on film, it’s not in the film. Maybe the people in the background were shooting craps. But it has to be in the film, not in any other materials…

OK, I watched the scene this morning and the dialog in the background is this,

> [@](#):
>
> .?. 6 to the bank
> bank 6 .?.
> pass the shoe please
> place your bets
> cards please
> .?.
> bank wins natural 9 .?.
> place your bets

(.?.=something I couldn’t make out)
All the same male voice, given the dialog he’s the croupier.
They’re playing [Baccarat Chemin de Fer](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baccarat#Baccarat_Chemin_de_Fer), (notice the croupier doesn’t call for the shoe to be passed after the bank wins).

In that vein,

this is what is seen on Mr. Wolfs notepad,

> [@](#):

> .?.
> TOLUCA LAKE

> VINCENT (WHITE)

(.?.=something I couldn’t make out)
No Dean Martin

Thirded. Marcellus sends the Wolf over to be the adult when his (Marcellus) underlings get in over their heads. Note how a jumpy Jules calms right down when he hears the Wolf is coming over. Wolf inspires confidence that things will work out OK.
