It is almost a lesbian bar. I guess you’d call it a bicurious bar. The top floor is a lesbian bar, but while it was being renovated (hah! still looks like a student union) we all decamped to the nicer ground floor, and slowly converted it. It’s nominally still a straight bar, but it carries the Pink Paper and G3 and so on. The few straight people I ever see in there generally sit at their tables and drink their beer veeery slowly, asking each other why there are so few men and - no! - did that woman really just kiss that other woman, what kind of place is this? The uniform party we had there recently was especially amusing for ‘lost straight person’ spotting. 😃 The catch is that only _some_ beers are that cheap - Carling and the like, plus some alcopops are £1.50, and wine is usually £1.50 a glass, plus they have extra offers on weekdays. > [@](#): > > A can of Special Brew and a park bench - now thats where its at. Have patience and faith, and nearer the time you will be thrilled at how meticulously well-organised it all is. Maybe. Anyway, a little chaos always adds to the fun, and it’s going to be great because it will be the first Dope Fest to feature Cleavage Beer ™ _and_ Anguacookies ™ _and_ mine pies ™ _and_ a Gyraquiz ™. Social events do not come any better than this! ---

The more the merrier. The “plug” is 4 posts up. 🙂 The date itself is finalised - 29th November, and by the sounds of things we’ll be meeting somewhere in London around 1pm on that day. Nothing else is finalised, but that’s just because we’re waiting for **ianzin** to pull his finger out, and as the unofficial offical organiser, make a decision as to where we’re meeting and what we’re going to do. ---

**Angua** go easy on our Yorkshire brethren. They’re just a little sensitive and insecure on account of the War of the Roses, seeing as how they, um, _cough_ lost _cough_. But they’re really very nice when you get to know them, and there’s no need to go bringing up the past like the War of the Roses. In fact, there’s scarcely any need to mention the War of the Roses at all. I think you and I, as Lancastrians, should just quietly resolve not to mention the War of the Roses in their presence, and certainly not in this or any other thread, and this way we’ll avoid the War of the Roses becoming any sort of fractious issue between good friends. Besides, I don’t want to get on the wrong side of **casdave**. If there’s a quiz, and we have teams, I want to be on his. the war of the roses means nothing to me. i just hate it when people try to do yorkshire accents, especially phonetically on a message board. remember kids, coronation street is LANCASTRIAN. its in MANCHESTER. theres a BIG DIFFERENCE. hell, even casdave will talk with a slightly different accent to me, and hes only down the road from where i come from. we dont breed whippets. we dont wear flat caps. we are generally alcoholics though. insert smiley here. tha knows. ---
