phased plasma rifle in a 40 watt range. i didnt know they had burny lasers yet, i thought they were like, sci fi or something. thats why i’m not a scientist anyway, if we are going to walk anywhere, at least we’ll be tooled up, what with lasers, Tir’s blatant arsenal of deadly medieval weaponry and i’m gonna bring a lightsabre. walking up CXR or TCR has never been so easy. shotgun! ---

i meant shotgun as in riding shotgun, but hey, the more firepower we got the better. i would like an explosives licence also Tir. imagine the fun… and jail sentences… ---

Hi **Shade** , and anyone else who is new to the thread. Summary: we will be meeting around mid-day (12.30 to 1-ish) at a very central London location, probably Waterloo or Charing Cross, on Sat Nov 29th. All welcome, especially newbies. There will be a ‘first session’ at a yet-to-be-specified pub, then those who want to can go off and pursue culture, and then in the early evening we’ll convene at the Silver Cross which is on Whitehall, just 100 yards south of Trafalgar Square. One faction will make do with the food at the Silver X (which is pretty good) while another will go for a curry at a nearby place and then come back. Finally, we’ll have the Gyraquiz. As the sort of unofficial organiser, I’ll nail down the fine details well before the 29th, I promise. If you’re wondering what else you’ve missed over the past 8 pages, here ya go: the desirability of eating Anguacookies ™, the likely attendance of a French sheeps, tips for the navigationally challenged, a discussion of standard practices in lesbian bars, some unnecessary references to past spats between Lancashire and Yorkshire (now happily resolved and no need to mention the war), Cleavage Beer™, Garius gallantly stepping up to the plate for duties pertaining to Angua and cookie transportation, rather a lot of stuff about Tir and weaponry (any combination of which was universally acknowledged to be A Very Bad Idea), a long and nail-biting wait for Tansu to join the thread and say if she’ll come, lots of stuff about lasers, references to Fred Dibnah, some discussion of quizzes past and future, long discussions of where different places are in London and the respective merits of walking and taking buses - with or without live ammunition, some rather important reassurances that it’s not all about snogging and getting fall-over-sideways drunk necessitated by the publication in a separate thread of some photos from the recent mini-Dope, some minor squabbles about regional accents and impressions thereof, a brief mention of the cultural offerings of the Reduced Shakespeare company, Steve Wright responding to my wish for a word from him in a rather overly-literal way, the usual flirting and petty skirmishes between our star-crossed youngsters Angua and Garius, lots of references to beer (no, really?!), some not-very-well-answered requests for practical assistance from those coming from afar, extensive culinary discussions about stuff that various people can make or bake including some Jewish delicacy the rest of us had never heard of but thought was once a Dr Who villain, a digression about how to eat our own stuff in the pub without being ejected, and a few other bits and pieces, the end. ---

Thanks, that was wonderfully comprehensive. I think I’ve all caught up now Except for nagging questions like: cookies as in ‘biscuits’ or as some kind of metaphor? Why would I give money to the navigationally challenged? Why were you talking about lasers anyway? I’m Yorkshire and Lancashire, will I get caught in the middle or form a much-needed bridge? But nothing about november, so that’s ok. ---
