sorry **Paul** I emailed as soon as I found out I had to work, I thought it would just be me and maybe **Crusoe** missing. I have my phone turned off at work, so I didn’t get the message from **Garius** until I’d finished at midnight, other wise I would have phoned people to warn them. ☹ poo, sorry. **Bib** there was gonna be a couple of us meeting up in Camden on Saturday, not really a dopefest as such just a few drinkies, but then I had to work, and other people couldn’t make it. ☹ ---

pub wasnt that bad. i had a chat with confessorknight and then went home. if i had of known i could of stayed boozing in wimbledon. doesnt matter. although you can buy me a pint to make up for it ---

Y’all do realize, don’t you, that the prospect of a vacation that involves (among other things) meeting you lovely people is the only thing that’s keeping me sane at the moment? (Well, OK, maybe not sane, but at least functional. OK, maybe quasi-functional.) Myself, I plan on arriving at Heathrow at 6:20 am, going to the hotel to drop my bag, shower, and see what incomprehensible state of jet lag I am in after that. If one were to to make the initial afternoon rendez-vous because one needed a nap to maintain one’s stamina for the main evening session, where might one be able to hook up with the others a bit later on? ---

In fact, I daresay we’ll probably be there from mid-afternoon, and just won’t leave - bunch of alcohol swilling Dopers that we are. However, as I tend to get things horribly wrong, I shall let **ianzin** confirm that. All I know for definite is that I am baking AnguaCookes of four different varieties (including a special one for **Bibliovore** with his name iced on it) and mine pies. 😃 ---

i think that is the plan to go to the silver cross in the afternoon, leaving a garrison of powerboozers there whilst other lighter weight dopers can go off and do such intangibles as ‘food’ and ‘shopping’, meeting back there at a later time in the aforementioned afternoon or ‘evening’. i used garrison and intangibles in the same paragraph. beat that. ---

**Eva Luna** , I hope that your work situation has improved, and that you’re not too stressed out these days. We are indeed a lovely bunch of people, and we promise to make you feel at home and help you forget all your troubles. If you’re arriving at 6.30am, I’d advise taking that nap and joining us for the evening session. No point forcing yourself to stay awake if you’re just going to be incoherent with exhaustion - it just won’t be fun. And we want you wide awake in order to fully appreciate the depth and breadth of our scintillating wit. ---

I may very well be fine, even after sleeping on the plane…adrenaline, and being the hell away from work for almost 2 weeks, can do that to a person. The last time was kind of rough because I got so sucked into the book I was reading that I didn’t sleep at all, but even then I was fine after a nice afternoon nap. Besides, that’s why God invented coffee! And didn’t **Angua** say something about chocolate-covered espresso bean cookies? (As for work calming down, thanks for the kind thoughts, but fat chance. We just started the largest I-9 audit the firm, nationwide, has ever done. I won’t bore you with the legal details, but in short it involves evaluating the legality of the U.S. employment authorization of 18,000 people. With a staff of 30, and no additional help. On top of all our usual work. I’m seriously considering keeping a flask in my desk. Did I ever mention I hate John Ashcroft?) ---
