As I said, many Indian/Pakistani/Bengali/etc. restaurants in the U.S. do do lamb Madras. The fact that the one you went to didn’t happen to offer it shows nothing. Furthermore, I went to quite a few of the sort of Indian/Pakistani/Bengali/etc. places that Lust4Life was talking about while I lived in the U.K., the sort that do their best business at night with people just out of the pubs. They have their own charms, but that doesn’t mean Lust4Life has to disparage people who go to different (and often more authentic) sorts of /Pakistani/Bengali/etc. places. That’s what I objected to, not the fact that Lust4Life praised the sort of restaurants that he likes, but that he felt it necessary to criticize other sorts of restaurants.

I’ll just run it by you one more time.

It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.

Given the choice I would much rather eat in a spacious,tasteful place not full of drunks(just so long as the Curry was real of course)

BUT!

And as for authenticity if we’re going for Curry snobbery here I’ve eaten Curries all over the world including India or isn’t that and the U.K. authentic enough.

I can quite honestly tell you that many if not most Indians,Pakistanis and Bangla Deshis would find your Po faced seriousness about the food a trifle bizarre.

How do I know this ?
Because I have more then a few mates of that extraction and by mates I dont mean mates as in jolly good chums with the head waiter at this little place I often frequent.

Dont tell me your one of those people who claim to link a wine with particular Curries?

We have a couple of these types of places where I live (N.E Scotland). Most of the places usually have a particular curry night (as well as other theme nights e.g. steak night, etc) rather than every night but they still serve it if you ask on the non ‘curry nights’ an example of the type of place which does this is JD Wetherspoon ( http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/ ). They have various chains across the uk. Hope this help in some way shape or form!
