Your arguments are knee-jerkish. Your use of British Petroleum instead of the more correct “BP” suggests you aren’t as clued up as you should be. And why does their nationality matter anyway? Would it make a difference if it were proved that USA contractors and suppliers were also responsible for errors?..oh, wait a sec! If BP keeps trading successfully they get the chance to correct their error and make financial amends. If they are broken up, that won’t happen. You appear to be wishing a lot of innocent parties lose their livelihoods to make amends for lots of people losing their livelihoods. Criminal charges for the deaths and damage? fine. But breaking up the company is short sighted and based on your language used, possibly based on unwarranted xenophobia. I can’t believe that literally half the replies in this thread have been about how BP isn’t British Petroleum. The argument is pedantic at its best and goes nowhere towards supporting or denying the claims made in the OP (that’s “Original Post” to those in the know). If I’m ranting against the chicken conglomorates of the world, I think I’d be perfectly fine railing against Kentucky Fried Chicken even if that gives you the vapors and you must needs to point out that it’s been KFC since 1997 and to call it by its name of Kentucky bespeaks a xenophobic view towards all Southern gentlemen and ladies.
