For most completely fucked up women, losing custody is the “rock bottom” they need to pull their lives together. Hopefully she’ll start climbing out of the hole she’s dug for herself and get some good help (not the “spa” kind that never seems to work). She was raised as a commodity. I don’t think she even had a moment to daydream of, let alone observe, a normal family situation. She sounds like a not-too-bright, uneducated family cash cow with no grounding in reality. The wheels fell off a long time ago. I really feel sad for the entire situation. Hopefully she’ll get it together before the kids are able to remember what a clusterfuck this really was/is. ---

Because “continues to do crazy things for months” doesn’t quite capture the level of bad judgment and brain-addled-ness that was at work there. 😉 ---

Those kids need to be fostered out to some family who’s as different than their parents. I forsee years of therapy for them. ---

[/QUOTE] I’m remembering the time she almost dropped Boo Boo #1 right in front of a crowd of photographers–now, lots of moms have stumbled while carrying their kids, but she didn’t want to give up her drink, so she didn’t have both hands free to hold the baby. It was so many little things like that (plus all the glaring big shit) that indicated to me that she hadn’t the inclination to be a proper parent. I think she’s profoundly selfish–and I think some of the blame for that can be laid on her mother, but now Brit is an adult and responsible for herself–and just plain not very smart. ---

Being neither a fan of her “music” nor particularly interested in celebrity gossip, the continually deteriorating public figure known as Britney Spears serves a single purpose in my book: she is the perfect warning to my eight year-old daughter. Can there possibly be a more concrete, identifiable example to use in the “money doesn’t buy happiness” sermon? ---
