Broadchurch: Tonight (08/07/13) BBC America

My mistake. I’m not good with names even in RL. Susan threatened to have whazzer, the senior lady reporter raped. I think she’s driving the Susan story in the papers (remember that she’s the one who, with some pleasure, called up the police to bring them to the newspaper office). Presumably Olly’s just looking for his ticket.

But even though Susan threatened the senior reporter from the big-city newspaper, I thought that Olly would not have wanted to engage in another smear campaign. But he seemed enthusiastic about this one.

Okay, now I’m confused. Someone please help me figure this out.

I don’t think Broadchurch was on last night (Weds, Sept 11). I had it set to record (I have DirecTV) and it didn’t.

The next episode set to record is next Weds, Sept 16, and the description in the onscreen guide for that episode says, “A new murder suspect comes to light.” In the last episode I saw (Sept 4) Jack committed suicide because of the media hounding and bringing up his past, especially his late wife. Did I miss an episode?

(Looking at the episode descriptions on IMDB is not helping…)

No, it was on last night. BBC America aired the sixth episode. The seventh episode airs on Wednesday, September 18 (not September 16). They may have the episodes on the On Demand service.

Mine didn’t record either:( I have Directv too

Well, if it helps Jack died in E1.5, so you want E1.6 …

eta: oh, okay.

Re On Demand, the last episode available to watch as of today is the one where Jack dies. According to BrokenBriton, that is episode 1.5.

This is my question: does the following description refer to episode 1.6 or 1.7:

IOW did DirecTV skip a **WEEK **or skip an EPISODE?

If the former (I hope) then we will be seeing 1.6 next week on the (coincidental) 16th.

With this kind of show, “a new murder suspect comes to light” doesn’t do much to narrow down the episode. My guess is that DirecTV will have the sixth episode sometime next week. So record whatever they air at 10pm on September 18 and check the On Demand guide around the same time.

Sorry. What I meant to say is that I think they’ll have the sixth episode available via the On Demand service next week and also broadcast the seventh episode at the usual time. (It looks like the On Demand offering is a week behind.)

I have DISH and my DVR didn’t record it this week. :frowning:
It “skipped” the regular showing Wednesday night, saying that it had recorded it on 9/04. My guess is that there was something wrong with the show’s coding to indicate that it wasn’t a “new” episode. I guess I’m going to learn about DISH’s On Demand feature sometime between now and NEXT Wednesday.

We just started catching up on this series, and have watched ep 1&2 on demand. They’re also available on Amazon. It seems well done, but is very reminiscent of the first season of The Killing, though not as painful. Hopefully that feel will change somewhat.

Nobody seems to have mentioned yet that there are similarities to The Killing.

This is frustrating. I have Charter cable and TiVo and I had the same problem. It didn’t record this week because the description was for episode 5 which would have been a duplicate. The description for next week is episode 6. I do not have On Demand (since I have the TiVo instead of a cable box), and for some reason BBC America does not rerun episodes later in the week. It’s not like they don’t have the time. Let’s look at today’s schedule, for example: eleven hours of Gordon Ramsey reruns and eight hours of Star Trek the Next Generation reruns. WTF?

The Killing, you say?!

I assume you are talking about the US version because I briefly looked at it out of curiousily, and then horror. The original was sublime. God only knows what the re-writers were smoking.

I didn’t read the thread because I don’t want to see spoilers. If my comment caused you to suffer undue hardship, well. . .I don’t give a shit.

I’m in the same boat as Nuveena: cable and a TiVo that ignored this week’s episode, with no apparent way to (legally) get caught up. The BBC America web site offers a trailer for the episode, but not the full thing.

Grrr.
Maybe I should just go watch The Killing

ThelmaLou said that her DirecTV onscreen guide described the episode scheduled for next week as “A new murder suspect comes to light.” Perhaps that’s the problem? That could describe almost every episode of the show.

Here’s the link for Amazon Instant Video. $1.99 if you have Amazon Prime.

That comes directly from the BBC America description of Episode 6: “The town of Broadchurch comes together to mourn. In doing so, a new suspect in the murder of Danny Latimer comes to light.”

(TiVo is also acting as though this past Wednesday didn’t happen: the 9/18 episode description is that of Episode 6, even though it should be Episode 7. One guess on the TiVo forums is that the way the episodes are numbered got changed, and it messed up the system. It’ll be interesting to see what actually gets recorded on 9/18.)

I hate paying for content twice, but I might just have to do this (because I’m really enjoying the story and don’t want to miss anything). Thanks!

A friend and I had the same issue with Wednesday’s broadcast here w/ Time Warner in Ohio. Luckily we both happened to catch it “live”.
