I think it should be a relatively simple dish. Sliced potatoes. Diced bacon. Diced onions. All pan-fried. Melted cheese (cheddar or processed) optional. Served with a bro’s choice of condiment (hot sauce, ranch dressing, and even ketchup are all acceptable).

PBR is for hipsters. Bros drink… Natty Ice, I think.

[hijack]How does one prepare hotatoes? I’m thinking they should be disappointing, considering the saying, “You can’t turn a ho into a housewife.”[/hijack]

Fast food fries. Cheap, easy to get, always available for a good time, but makes you feel slightly ashamed when you indulge.

What’s missing is pan-fried semen, but I suppose that can be a dipping sauce.

All I know for sure is that it’s a kind of pocket bread, but made of potato.

In an amazing coincidence, pan-fried semen would also be a perfect condiment.

Did you not read the thread? Count yourself lucky if you avoid being pitted for this.

Hey, wait – Pit! These things, as a SDMB creation, absolutely must be barbecued!

Tomatoes, olive oil, olives, capers, and garlic?

Bwahaha! [Guy Fieri’s](http://guysamericankitchenandbar.com/) menu might lack brotatoes, but it’s got lots of other brodacious bad boys.

Well, it’s fake if you read closely, but I think Poe’s law applies for a few seconds there.

Large Cast iron skillet
Chopped potatoes
Oil an or bacon fat.
Cook till nearly done crispy
Add
Chunks of beef or game.
Garlic, onions
Salt pepper whatever
If needed add
Cayenne or chipoltes.
Cook till done.
Add some bacon if you like.

Bacon imho is not manly. Thin whispy fried fat. It is delicious it is a great food but beef reigns king.

> OK, we’re well on our way. Of course, some type of _cheese_ is noticeably absent. Velveeta would be the obvious, if pedestrian, choice. I think for brotatoes, there needs to be at least some attempt at quality somewhere, to give the bros something to argue about. I’m going to say Merkt’s Cheddar spread for the cheese element.

OG no you will ruin the whole wretched mess if use good cheese.
Velveta or pepper jack or Colby.

I gotta agree with this sentiment, if not the particular choices. IMO, the only acceptable cheeses are Kraft Simulated American Processed Cheese, or Cheez Whiz. Is that the stuff than comes in a pressurized can? The can stuff would also work.

Must be served with beer. And I’m talking Bud. Absolute highest acceptable quality would be Miller.

Forgot to mention – if you want a cheese debate, pick several flavors of pressurized can cheeses, and slap 'em out on the table. 😛
