# brown note

I thought I had read a straight dope article at one point that explained the sound or note that is purported to cause people to lose their bowel contents. I can’t seem to find it in the archive. Help please.

Plug in “brown note” in the search engine for “General Questions” and “subject only”. Go back 18 months or so.

It’s come up several times

Check out the _Amok Journal: Sensurround Edition_, edited by Stuart Swezey. The last (or nearly the last) chapter is all about infrasound and its… um… applications.

Oh. I thought you guys were talking about Van Halen…when Eddie first got famous, there was much discussion amongst guitarists about his tone, which he referred to as the “Brown Sound”…

but that’s not what you’re talking about, so never mind…
