President Bush actually _said_ “Maybe you know something I don’t know?” And no one took advantage of the best straight line in the the history of modern politics? 1. Gee, Mr. President, I could draw up a list of all the things I know that you don’t, but by the time I’m done, I’ll be 700 years old. 2. Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. It’s going to cost you big money to find out one way or the other. 3. Something? Try _everything_. 4. Probably. For instance, did you know that the word “gullible” is not in the dictionary? 5. 1. “Your fly is unzipped…GOTCHA!” ahem. I’ve always wanted to do that. Maybe this is the thing that finally bites Bush in the ass. Despite the arch conservativism, folks in the South do tend to have the mentality that the government will take care of them in time of need. The Democratic Party had the South far longer than it otherwise would have because of things like rural electrification and TVA. Loyalty. Something like this could send some Gulf South voters back to the Democratic Party for _years_. “Hmmm.
