Well, there was Anita Bryant, some years back, who infamously declared “If God had meant people to be gay, it would have been Adam and Bruce instead of Adam and Eve.”
It’s just a stereotypically Aussie name to me.
One of my daughter’s best friends, aged 14, is called Bruce. None of her friends seem to think it’s odd, but then they STILL haven’t noticed that one of their other friends has a total Bond Girl name. I’m waiting for it to dawn on them.
