a friend of mine, a newbie called crazy\_nut, is sitting next to me now and wants to ask the all-knowing **teeming millions** : why was bubblegum invented? and NOT when. (actually, i’d like to know too) 🙂 well? will some kind soul please enlighten us? (_cough cough_[sub]oh **Fenris** …[/sub])

In short, gums of various types go back a looooong way, with improvements being made along the way. One such “improvement” just accidentally created what we know today as “bubble” gum.
