Block walls require a level foundation pad to stack on. That requires digging below the frost line, adding rebar, and pouring cement. Then the block can be stacked to form a wall.

Not a big deal in the South. Our frost line is abut 15 inches. Up north it can easily be three feet.

Concrete block has better consistency of concrete. Block is rated at PSI.

Concrete mix off a truck has that rating too. But you’re depending on how well it was mixed.
