I would like to build a housing for a globe, but need a globe to put into it. Where can I purchase just-a-globe? Is there anyplace that one can get a replacement for an outdated globe? It seems like people would do updating with geopolitical changes around the world.

Thanks in advance!

Beach ball? Or does it have to be load bearing.

Does it actually have to be a globe or just a globe shaped object?

For some reason, I misread your post as building a stand for a globe-like object.
My google skills didn’t turn up any just-a-globe suppliers. You might consider trying to get a good deal on a globe from an auction site like ebay and removing the old stand.

Could you buy a globe that has a housing, and then discard the housing and keep the globe, and then make your own housing for it?

(I have a strong feeling that I – and possibly others – have no idea what your problem is, or what you’re trying to accomplish.)

OK, to clarify:

I would like to build one of those cool stand globes, like [this](http://www.webstoresamerica.com/product.asp?product=22813&utm_source=NexTag&utm_medium=PPC&utm_term=22813).

However, I wouldn’t be able to make the globe itself. I figured that people who buy expensive globes might get them updated once in a while, and that if I could find the source that they use, I could buy one for my little project while doing the woodwork myself.

Does that clarify things?

(Yes, I could buy one with the housing and discard it, but I was hoping to not be wasteful about it. If it comes down to it, that’s what I will do.)

I have bought globes[here](http://www.worldglobes.com/replogle/245+3444.cfm?source=googleaw&kwid=replogle%20globes&tid=exact) before, and was immensely happy with their selection and quality.
