I got the local news on. It’s a three story building that collapsed and caught fire. Nothinge else is known. ---

67th & Madison. The firefighters haven’t been able to get inside yet. The building next to it has caught fire. Thick black smoke coming out, and the Mayor is on his way to the scene. ---

It’s 62nd between Park and Madison. According to NBC, it’s believed to be a parking garage used for a luxury condominium building at the corner of 62nd and Madison. Obviously still a lot is unknown. ---

People who were there say it was a big explosion and the building caught fire and collapsed. ---

From WNBC – a 3 story (4 story?) residential condo – 4 injured, 2 to the hospital, 2 treated at the scene. What a mess ☹ Obviously, info is changing by the moment. ---

Survivors are being brought out. And I hate it that whenever anything happens in NYC, the first thought is “terrorism.” One of the worse 9/11 legacies. ---

Yeah, the white house has said no indication of [the T-word](http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/10/nyregion/10cnd-blast.html?hp&ex=1152590400&en=2756d46347201da8&ei=5094&partner=homepage). Seems like a silly little target if it was. Also from the NYT article. . . “The power company Con Edison said they were on the scene at a building next door – responding to a report from a gas customer – when the blast occurred.” ---

He apparently wrote 15 pp of e-mail to her and several friends stating his side of things. Part of it was that he wanted to blow the building to hell and himself with it. **Doug’s Personal Angle:** I had an appointment with my dentist today. His office is ONE BLOCK SOUTH of the explosion site. I initially thought I might not be able to make it in, but surrounding streets were opened in time. My dentist’s opinion on Crazy Blow-Up Doc was that “he’s a two-time loser. Not only is he going to live to face criminal, AND probably civil, penalties for all the injury and damage he’s caused, but his ex is going to make out _even better_ owning a _cleared lot_ in Midtown Manhattan than she would have owning the building.” :dubious: Discuss. ---

To clarify further: The method used was gas. Con Ed was called by neighbors concerned about a leak. ---

That makes him a three time loser in my opinion. ---
