Bulletin! Three Gay Guys Liked The New Film, "Burlesque"!

I agree - and started a thread a few days ago about the film.

Merged duplicate thread.

I’m the same way, Archive Guy. I’m sure my friends have me pegged as a snob, but I genuinely don’t enjoy mindless entertainment on any level. Once in a blue moon, if I’m home sick or something, I might watch a blockbuster on Netflix Watch Instantly. But I always have a hollow feeling afterwards.

Well if there’s lots of skin it’ll be good to put on TV with the sound off when it comes to cable.

Shit, I even searched for it. I was surprised there wasn’t one. Sorry DMark!

I was drinking coffee when I read this.

You owe me a new keyboard.

I couldn’t force myself to watch “Moulin Rouge.” Tried a couple of times. Do you think I would like “Burlesque”? I’m a Cher fan.

Moulin Rouge! is one of the greatest movies ever made, IMO, and I can’t imagine this will be a fraction as great, but I do plan to see it at some point before it leaves the theaters.

I saw a still from the film in a magazine that made me gasp, literally gasp. It was a gorgeous shot of Christina wearing a beautiful green gown standing in front of blue stage curtains. It was take-my-breath-away oh my god! beautiful, because I love that color combination and you don’t see it too often. I’ll see the damn film no matter what just to pay homage to the Costumer, Art Director and Set Decorator. But I like Cher and Stanley Tucci too.

Halloween?
How seasonally appropriate, and not at all spam!
We’re stupid here, so thanks for the info.
Hey, got anything to help with penis enlargement or financial dealings with Nigeria?

Judging from the box office, there were EXACTLY three people in the entire world who liked it.

Just watched the DVD – forget Moulin Rouge!, the makers owe an enormous amount of money to Bob Fosse’s estate.

Stupid movie, good cast, Christina sure can sing, happy ending, decent eye candy for both genders and most sexual preferences – it was quite watchable.

would you guys classify it as good as Moulin Rouge. One of my fave films ever. My niece likes Burlesque and she did introduce me to Moulin Rouge, but it just seems kinda boring from the clips I have seen. Should I just sit down and watch it all the way through.

Nope. Not even on the same planet as Moulin Rouge!

I mentioned Burlesque in another thread, and asked a question nobody answered: Did Cher’s character pay off her partner, Peter Gallagher, with what was in effect his own money? When she sold that guy the “air rights” to her building, half of those should have been Gallagher’s already, right?

Hm, yeah, I think you’re right. Good thing the movie had zero connection with reality, eh? 'Cause the other thing I was thinking about the ending was how the hell did she come back from that meeting with a check? It would take months to have the lawyers do the paperwork on all of that, and even if it were an advance of some sort, the billionaire wouldn’t just whip out his checkbook and write her a check on a handshake deal.

Maybe she flashed him and he paid her for the novelty.
