\*Shift happens.

A fairly common bumper sticker where I come from, implying tectonic shift, from the [triple junction of tectonic plates](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_junction) just offshore of Humboldt County, CA.

cite? Been eating at In-N-Out for years and I have never seen a Bible verse on any of their packaging.

Alone the same lines, the bumper sticker for Bear Mountain “Ski Bear” becomes “Ski Bare”
😃

Look on the inside rim on the bottom of the cups.

During the Watergate scandal, bumper stickers stating “Don’t Blame Me. I’m From Massachusetts” were common. Massachusetts and DC were the only ones who went with McGovern.

I had a window sticker for Purdue university that was edited to read **Undue Purversity**.

When I moved to Virginia 5 years ago, I was puzzled to see cars with a bad attitude chicken sticker on the back. I soon found out that it was the Virginia Tech Hokies mascot.

Not necessarily regoinal, but this one stumped my wife:

JESUS SAVES !
(And takes half damage)

She’d never been exposed to D&D or other RPGs, so had no idea what it meant.

> The mascot used to be the Plainsmen. Not sure if this has totally gone away or is just not as exciting as a tiger and an eagle. Either way, Alabama seems to be the home of multiple mascot confusion (see University of Alabama: Crimson Tide and Elephants).

The UA mascot is the Elephant only. The team is referred to as the Crimson Tide because the colors are crimson and white, and as a large line of Bama boys once converged on the opposing team in their colors, the commentator made the remark that it looked like a “crimson tide” - the name stuck.

I’ll be kind enough not to mention the toilet paper and Tide box contraptions… if you don’t know, please don’t ask. I’m too embarrassed to explain.

> There’s a record store (do they still call them that?) in Louisville KY called “ear Xtacy”. They sell t-shirts and bumper stickers with “ear Xtacy” on them. Several years ago, it was sort of a fad to buy a bumper sticker, cut it up, and mix the letters up. Not that anyone knows what “ear Xtacy” means anyway unless they’re from Louisville.

“AX YER CAT” was my favorite.

> “Native” bumper sticker in Colorado.

When I was a Coloradan (we’re going back a couple of decades), there was a fad to manufacture variations on these bumper stickers, replete with the mountain logo that you see on CO license plates. The funniest one said “NAIVE” but there were others. I’d think these would be a puzzler, if the joke’s still going on.

Somebody asked the other day about our “Kinky for governor”. Guess it’s time to take it off the car–(that’s Kinky Friedman, and you really should know that). We also have a few “No Wall” stickers around.

Loads of people have heard the slogan, “Don’t Mess With Texas.” People from other parts of the country, however, don’t appear to know where it comes from. I think it’s often assumed that it’s some kind of “macho” thing, but the truth is that it’s an anti-littering slogan, sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation as part of a campaign to clean up the highways. Very macho indeed.
