But we have no idea how long it’s been there. The rats may have come and gone. At least one is still in evidence, possibly the victim of artery-clogging pig drippings. I wonder if we’ll see a thread next week, something on the order of “How many years is bacon grease good for if roving rats haven’t compromised the container’s integrity?” ---

Seriously, it seems obvious that someone removed a board in order to hide something, then covered it with aluminum and a fridge. Although it would be more intriguing if it was some kind of lock-box rather than a pink piggy bank. What if it has a safe deposit box key in it? Or maybe some kind of cursed ring or Egyptian scarab or something! :eek: ---

Look at it this way…if it’s really cold, the dugites will probably be pretty lethargic. The downside, of course, is that they may be too lethargic to get out of your way, in which case you’ll have to shove them aside. Still, 'tis better to tangle with a lethargic dugite than a lively one…Also a large alcohol intake is said to act as an antidote to snake venom. (At least that’s the recieved wisdom where I live, I dunno Australian snakes may be different). Also, research has shown that Scottish serial murderers hardly ever hide under houses. Anyhoo, since I’m shouting instructions from a safe distance, my advice is drink the beer, apply coveralls, boots, gloves etc, grab a light and go for it. Ya gots ta do it 'cause it’s there!
