I assume the fully modern thing to do is to just play music from your phone, using Bluetooth. Maybe the car will even interface with your phone to tell it what to play, depending on the car.
Hah,hah. A long time ago; easy 30 years ago I guess, but still well after the days of 8 track, I was working part time at a place and the younger guys there had developed a strange fascination with 8 track for whatever reason. They had acquired an 8 track player from a yard sale and built up a collection of tapes. I had forgotten about how the players would change tracks right in the midst of a song. All I could think was , why are these guys using this playback method?! I guess it was a novelty to them.
But in it’s day 8 track players in cars was The Thing! A friend had a decked out van with an 8 track. It was awesome (at the time).
These days, sadly, we’ve digressed to listening to shitty MP3 from a bloody telephone.
