I gave my damn fingers a second degree burn earlier.Damn it hurts. I was cooking dinner and without thinking I grabbed something outta the microwave and took the plastic wrap off. Ouch Dammit instant steam burn!! After four Advil, three beers two shots of tequila and a pain pill the pain is finally bearable.I have damn sesitive fingers, I can’t even wash dishes in temperatures that make my husband laugh. Burns suck!! I feel for people that have burns. Here I am whinning and I only have three burnt fingers, I can’t begin to image what those poor people who get burned in fires go thru. Did I mention burns suck!! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN. ---

I did a similar less-than-clever thing; I called the emergency room and they said to put a bag of frozen veggies on the burn for a few minutes on and a few off, alternating for about a half hour, no more. Then, in between ‘ons’, hold the hand over your head. This slows circulation to it and makes it hurt less. I was stunned when it worked and just left it that way for a long time while I watched tv. Oh, come now. I quite like Burns. With his wrinkled, yellow face and megalomaniacal laugh, he’s one of the best characters on the show. It wouldn’t be the same without him. Oh, wait… ---

Tell me about it. Earlier today, I accidentally placed my hand on a red-hot cast iron skillet. Made finishing my shift at work (I wait tables) _loads_ of fun. Carrying hot plates, writing down orders with my blistered fingers…sheer joy. And I get to do it again tomorrow. Also, typing one-handed is annoyingly slow. ---

When at home, I tend to go around topless. I baked some dinner rolls the other day and when they were done, I took them out and placed them on top of the stove. Then I reached over to turn off the oven and came in contact with the cookie sheet. Now I have a lovely long burn about three inches below my armpit. (I’m a shorty.) Could have been worse though. If I had reached for the knob facing forward, rather than sideways, one of my girls would have been very, very unhappy. ---

I managed to burn myself last year when opening the rice cooker – I wasn’t paying attention, and the steam hit my arm. OW. OW! FUCK! OW! It wasn’t a bad burn, and it healed nicely, but for the first few hours it really hurt, far more than it looked like it should. Fortunately it was only first-degree, but still, OW. You have my sympathy. ---

Do you happen to have Neosporine? That might help-you can also get the kind that numbs the area and it feels very nice. Good luck. Burns do indeed suck. ---
