Burrito sourcing is one of the joys of modern living. It doesn’t take long to figure out where the best beans and rice are served.
Bean burrito. With beans in it. If I wanted meat, I’d buy a steak.
Burritos are like a sandwich or pizza; anything goes.
You seem to have left off the possibility that rice and beans are themselves stated fillings. Though I’m not sure why it matters what’s stated: It’s either a good burrito, or it it’s not. And plenty of good burritos include both rice and beans.
I like meat of my choice plus beans only and maybe a little cheese. No rice - that’s just too much starch.
I like both beans and rice, as long as they don’t scrimp out on the other fillings.
I don’t like Mexican food, per se, so the only burritos I eat come from Chipotle, precisely because I can have all the (brown) rice I want and none of those nasty beans.
Well, I guess burittos always come back one way or another…
Beans and your meat of choice inside. Also inside can be onions, additional hot sauce and cheese. Rice is OK, but not how I would make it at home.
Lettuce, tomato, more cheese, picante, sour cream and anything else burittoish goes on the TOP/OUTSIDE. Making for a very nice hot/cool combo.
I am rice-and-beans agnostic - either one or neither is fine with me, as long as you don’t put any guacamole on it.
However, my very favorite burrito is from Lupes # 2 in East L.A. - their beef, beans, and cheese burrito is amazing. The beef is marinated and shredded; the beans are amazingly flavorful, and the cheese just adds a little…something. And it’s the perfect size - enough to fill you up, but not so big you have to worry about leftovers or feeling bloated after finishing it.
If you wrap something or somethings in a tortilla, it’s a burrito. Put whatever you want in it. And if you eat it with a knife and fork, why bother with the tortilla?
I love a good chicken burrito. Someone needs to go get me some. I like all the stuff in them. No one need to announce it all, just eat.
But then you can’t eat it with your hands, which is what a burrito is all about. (Well, you can. But it will get you talked about at the restaurant.)
Beans, rice, queso and toppings. No meat.
ETA: Not a vegetarian, just don’t like the meat that usually comes on a burrito.
I have no strong feelings about this. I guess I prefer beans and no rice. But I’ve enjoyed plenty of burritos with rice and possibly some without beans. I’m ecumenical on the subject!
I love avocados but I want my avocado in my burrito to be room temperature, not chilled.
I can go either way with rice. With Taco Bell I get plain bean burritos (man I wish they still had the salsa verde sauce!) if I’m having a Mission-style mega-burrito I usually go with beans and rice and all the fixin’s.
I tend to go with a pork or chicken burrito topped with salsa verde and melted cheese, which means a burrito eaten with a knife and fork. Which means both rice and refried beans are welcome, because I can skootch the forkful around in the sauce.
I am also happy to find sour cream and avocado inside the tortilla.
