The memo itself is pretty irrelevant, but the attention paid is quite telling. This is a media that would bend over backward to have any smoke blown up its ass by this administration and accept it at face value. Very rarely would it apply anything more than the most cursory scrutiny, and it would never probe or debate or really question the pres. Certainly, they would rarely dwell on something silly that might make the president look, well, unpresidential because they ran the very real risk of being shut out of what little info the administration saw fit to throw their way. Now, it appears those days are over. POTUS has got a big target on its back, and the manifestations of that will come in big ways (the rather unflattering profile of Bush in the current _Time_ and _Newsweek_ currently on newstands) and small (the bathroom note). Though I don’t welcome the bizarre fixation people have with this particular non-newsworthy item, I do welcome the spirit it represents–every little thing Bush says/does/projects will come under the microscope. I just hope the application of that scrutiny is productive (exposing, or maybe just reminding people of, the various lies and distortions that this administration has continuously shoveled) rather than counterproductive (shrill, hollow partisanship that’s easy to refute, deflate, or spin in Bush’s favor). ---

Well, if someone at Reuters had a hard-on for the Prez, it could conceivably happen. (not likely though) Pointless reason? There are a few threads about this. Guess it wouldn’t be pointless to some. ---

If Reuters was going to doctor a phoro (a REALLY unlikely proposition), I doubt they would botch it by being unaccountably erratic with the letter cases. ---

I wasn’t attempting to suggest Reuters would alter it - assumed this was a thing floating around the internet that got picked up by them. If it’s a Reuters cameraman and goes straight to publication, I guess there’s no chance to fool around. My bad. But my question remains - what’s UP WITH the RANDOM capitals? ---

How are kids supposed to feel that everyone is laughing at the president for having to potty in the middle of the UN session. Now they’ll be to embarassed to ask to go to the bathroom in class. \ Won’t anyone think of the children?! ---
