Bush haters harass 3-year old girl!

I think someone posted a link to the (radio) talk show you are describing, DirkGntly, in the thread linked to by Earthling. I remember Phil mentioning this, which does shed a little different light on the whole situation.

But the fact that Phil would put his 3 year old daughter in a situation like this still does not sit well with me. At every rally I’ve been to (and even ones I see on TV), every time some person/s pull off a stunt like this, it’s never received “really well”, if you catch my meaning. From what I have witnessed, the best case scenario that Parlock could have hoped for, is that the crowd would have only yelled at him/them.

I’m not a child psychologist, but I do know that in a 3-year-old’s egocentric world, if a crowd of people are angrily pointing and screaming in your direction, you’re going to think you’ve done something wrong. So, IMHO, this poor child was going to ultimately resort to crying, even if the sign wasn’t torn apart. And as a side note: I agree with mrunlucky that had this been a Bush rally, the family would have been “escorted” out by security (which, obviously, wouldn’t go over well with a child, either).

All in all, I don’t mind if people bring their young children to a political rally (maybe they can’t find a sitter, or maybe they just want them there). That was hardly the case here, though.

Well, the way I had read the Washington Times story, its tone was basically “Democrats are thugs, and mistreating little girls is part of M.O.” But if the scenario you relate is true, shouldn’t the story really be “Republican man protests at many Democratic rallies and is treated with respect except in a few instances” – which is pretty much a non- story? If we shift our focus away from the Parlocks for a moment, it seems to me that the Washington Times – which has Republican leanings* – is spinning the story to cast the Democrats in a negative light.

  • The Washington Times is owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Rev. Moon is a strong Bush backer (sample from a sermon: “There is a vicious battle between Bush and Gore. Whom do you think is more qualified as your leader? [Bush.]” – and he claims to be responsible for Bush 41’s election). It wouldn’t surprise me to see the paper carry his views (or perhaps even his agenda) in their stories.

BTW, Rev. Moon-is he the guy who does the mass weddings-you know, the Moonies? Or is that someone else entirely?

It’s the same guy.

More than just a guy, he’sThe Savior of Mankind:
