I’ll be flabberglommerated if Kerry has even two years with a Democratic congress (well, maybe a Dem _Senate_, but not Senate and HoR). But I’ll certainly take the bet under those conditions. ---

I’m pulling them out my ass.] NSW = New South Wales, the state in which Sydney is located. The Labor party is in theory the “left leaning” party, but it has various factions within it. One of them is the “NSW Right” faction, i.e. the right wing faction of the NSW branch. The most recent Labor Prime Minister, Paul Keating, was from that faction, as is the current opposition leader Mark Latham. The party currently in government is the Liberal party, which despite the name is supposedly the “right leaning” party. In practice, there’s no readily discernable difference between the two parties when they’re governing. There’s also two minor parties, the Greens and the Australian Democrats, which is where you’d find the true lefties, I guess. ---
