Bush supports a racist agenda !

To be fair, we’re not supporting a racist agenda; we’re supporting Iraqi self-determination. If they decide to do unfortunate things such as marginalize Sunnis, curtail women’s rights, institute Sharia-lite and racist policy, … well, that’s self-determination.

To be fair, we are supporting the installation of a racist agenda. With troops. With money. With lives. I thought we were fighting for a “western style” democracy but we are not even getting that. We are fighting for a racist agenda. One that will insure civil strife for years to come because one group of people can impose their ‘self-determination’ on another without regard or care. We should not be a party to that. Instead our government is advancing it.

Imagine how ‘self-determing’ Iraq would be if our military wasn’t in there imposing a faux ‘western style’ democracy. Why, they’d be-- governing themselves! Kinda like they were doing before we invaded them and fucked shit up. Not so many calls for self-determination back then.

Isn’t that the kind of view that the President used to call “the soft bigotry of low expectations” when it was suggested by people skeptical of the proposed Iraq invasion?

I mean, we went in there with optimistic rhetoric about establishing genuine democracy and liberty to inspire reform across the Arab world. Now, suddenly, it’s only about Iraqi “self-determination” in the form of some kind of quasi-electoral theocracy?

Sure, half a loaf is better than no bread, I guess, but it’s kind of disconcerting when you remember the blithe predictions about getting the whole fucking bakery.

How do you propose forcing a “Western style” democracy on an unwilling populace?

Yep. At this point we should be happy with whatever crumbs we can get.

I do not propose forcing anything on anybody. I propose we get the fuck out of there as quickly as possible. This was a complete cock-up from the beginning and the longer it drags, the worse it gets.

Airman Doors, USAF, once again, I salute you.

Take care and good luck.

As the comander in chief used to say: “Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is.” - then Governor George W. Bush.

Over here, I do think we need to constantly remind him of that.
