There was no growing confusion that W’s a bigot, was there? Or at least beholden to his bigoted Religious Right masters.

Hiya, Shodan, question for ya,
My partner and I have been together for 2 and a half years (3 years in July). We are monogamous, stable; we share our finances; we bicker and make up; in short, we do all the things that hetero couples do. During my recent hospitalization, although my surgeon was gay-friendly and included my partner in the recovery process, he pointed out that my partner had no legal rights as a family member in case of emergency. And as you know, there are more than 1,000 legal benefits granted hetero couples as a matter of course that are denied to gay couples.
So, please explain to me why you believe that Brutney Spears’ whimsical Vegas fling can be regarded as a solemn legal contract in every state of the union, yet my relationship with the GoBF may not?
I’ll be interested in hearing **Shodan’s reply to your question, but I’m going to jump in to stress how important it is for any couple, mixed- or same-sex, to have what legal documentation they can for this situation. The importance of such things as powers of attorney for health care designating your partner as your chosen decision maker can’t be overstated.
Today, it was revealed that the CIA recieved a crucial clue something like one and a half to two years prior to 9/11 about one of the hijackers who piloted a plane into the WTC.
On this same day, the President chose to announce his proposed Constitutional Amendment to prevent two people of the same sex from bringing up a child.
Because, obviously, gay marriage (and a relationship like gobear’s) is a greater threat to the Republic than Al Qaeda.
God forbid gobear’s partner should have any rights, after all. That would be wrong.
I’m just so disgusted right now, that I can’t even think of how I feel or what I want to say.
Saw this at Salon and had a chuckle, given the length of time this thread has been going:
