Yeaha, a empty symbolic act that may or may not stand up in a year or two, an act by a Council that has yet to establish legitimacy.

Now granted, there are some serious problems in Iraq. It looks like the U.S. is facing quite a large guerrilla army and all that. But really, don’t you think that at least Wolfowitz and company are thinking that they were proven correct? From where I’m sitting, it looks like the fall of Saddam was indeed a catalyst for change in the region. And that was Wolfowitz’s whole theory.

Well Sam, I certainly hope Wolfowitz doesn’t think that because in fact, the claim is fucking stupid.

(a) the Peace Process only just got barely jump started by US efforts, no connexion with Iraq except our own now desperate political need.
(b) the Syrian issue you cite started well before Iraq and has nothing to do with it. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling shit to the gullible who don’t follow the region.
© The Iranian back and forth has been ongoing and hardly seems to be driven by outside factors.
(d) the Press claims is khayali bullshit.
(e) the SA issue depends on the attack that happened there, not Iraq, and one would hardly want to argue that by encouraging al-Qaeda resurgence one has gained.

This is rich. It is indicative of how much some people are willing to believe their own bullshit. So, let me see here. The US installs a puppet government and the puppet government declares a natinal holiday to celebrate the the invasion of the country by a foreign power. And this is a genuine expression of how the Iraqi people feel about it? Yeah, right. And the puppet government would have been just as free to declare it a day of mourning and a day to remember they are an occupied nation and should continue to fight the invaders? Yeah, right. And when American forces are attacked and killed and bystanders cheer, this is not to be taken as representative of what the iraqi people may feel? And the fact that the Iraqi people are attacking the occupying forces daily means nothing? We should only look at the fact that the USA through the puppet government has proclaimed the invasion a good thing to be celebrated. That is the main problem with the present US government: they believe their own bullshit.
