Is this “lied about the weather” idea only here on the straight dope? Because a lady I know around town saw me in the library today ad said the same thing! “Do you know they actually lie about the weather?” I almost asked her if she reads this board. ---

17 miles is nothing on a mountain bike. I can do it in an hour. Let’s not turn a wipeout on a bike into a tremendous act of machismo. ---
