They know what will appeal to those voters who actually get off their asses and vote. If you think for one minute that even though you might think they are lame ads you are sorely naive.

Man, we folks in those big cities back east didn’t know anything about political strategy, market research, and the like – so glad you came along to enlighten us. So, they actually put thought into these ads? Damn, who would have thought – SUCKING as bad as they do?

And, as an independent who has “gotten off his ass” and voted in every election since I became eligible- even voting absentee from college, I think I am precisely the type of voter Bush needs to worry about, assuming the poll numbers have any validity whatsoever.

And, for the record, I haven’t been “sorely naive” since I lost my virginity 😃 )

\>Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a twinky-eating Young
\>Republican admit that Shrub merely “portrays” leadership rather than actually
\>leading. Could it that they’re actually getting more honest, or is this guy’s grip

Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a Democrat back up his “rhetoric” (including the pathetically overworked “shrub”) using facts to back up any of his statements. Could it be that there are none?

Sorta like they (political people in this instance) did their homework inre that whole, “We’re gonna go to Mars!” crapfest? Once that one started to tank, one was hard pressed to hear a mumblin’ word about it anywhere.

And this country is most assuredly not predominantly conservative. Nor, for that matter is it predominantly liberal. And in looking at your definitions of those who speak the Truth©, as well as those you think are indicative of the opposition, I can only say that you really need to get out more.

Considering **The Skipper** cites Bill O’Reilly, Shaun Hannity, Michael Medved, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, _et al_ as “reliable” sources of information, I’m not surprised one iota by the sheer level of ignorance he’s been spewing in his posts.

Well, it depends entirely upon your perspective, and I don’t really agree with what I’m about to say, but “giving aid and comfort” doesn’t necessarily mean actively supplying or fighting on the side of the enemy, although those are the two really cut-and-dried cases.

I think you can see that when a highly decorated soldier not only protests but says some of the stuff he said to Congress (like about the war crimes, for instance), he is making statements that aid the enemy, noble reasons or not. Whether or not that falls under the definition of treason is entirely up to you.

Can’t say I agree with you. In fact, resorting to a blanket statement as such is really more indicative of the quality of your own thoughts and perspective on the subject.

You have my position and you are certainly free to express your own. Having served in both Viet Nam and Desert Storm, both as a helicopter pilot, I am very familiar with death and the price of freedom.

Spain’s capitulation to terrorism will only serve to embolden terrorists.

I do not wholeheartedly embrace the entire Bush doctrine and can even see some of the liberal’s points of view as being valid. No one party is perfect or blameless. In fact, in reality, I’m probably more Libertarian, or compassionate conservative, in a lot of my thinking. But I don’t think there is a chinaman’s chance in hell that voting as such (Libertarian) accomplishes anything other than allowing the worse of two evils to get elected (IMO, this would be a left-wing liberal).

But during times like these, we need a strong leader. Kerry, IMO, is just too wishy-washy. My mention of him being a traitor had nothing to do with his actions during his service. It was afterwards. Him and Jane Fonda could’ve made a great photo op in Hanoi. On the other hand, when Bush enacts that recent immigration bill for obvious political motivations, I shake my head. No, Bush is not perfect and it is obviously easy for a liberal to find many things to criticize and make fun of. But, when push-comes-to-shove, in a crisis, I want Bush in the driver’s seat. Not someone like Kerry or Clinton.

Nuff said from me. I’m off to other threads. You people can trip all over yourselves indulging in unbelievable egotism and self-importance.

Have a nice day. 🙂

Reminds me of a verse from the song “Trigger Happy”, by “Weird Al”:

I will agree: if you want a president in office that will take action, and rely on hindsight to determine whether or not that action was reasonable, you _should_ vote for Bush.

What, are you kidding me? I don’t see how that could be twisted around by _any_ standards, to come across as treason! Kerry was describing events involving US soldiers _torturing_ innocent people, in _ghastly_ manners! Now, I understand shooting a “civilian” that is holding an assault rifle pointing at you, but come on! Decapitating bodies, electrocuting people using telephone wire, etc… people are worried that Kerry’s stance on this sort of thing was akin to “providing aid and comfort to the enemy,” to the point of treason?

I sure hope these same people were against the US going into Iraq to topple Saddam, then. It seems to me that it doesn’t matter to them if innocent people are being tortured, as long as it’s “the bad guy” doing the toruring.

Well, looks like **The Skipper** done cut and run. I guess he’s not the sort of compassionate conservative we want in the driver’s seat chasing down pansy-assed liberals when the heat gets turned up.

Is it too late to point out that “chinaman” is sort of considered an ethnic slur these days?

And would it be legal to have a campaign ad end with “I’m George Bush, and my friends paid for this message”?

Your mashing a hot button now. Which is to say, bite my radical protestin’ _patriotic_ butt!

Since when does a man honor and serve his country by supporting a dishonorable cause? If all that is necessary to silence _any_ dissent is military action, why would we expect a scoundrel to abstain? You realize, I hope, that you are outlining a recipe for tyranny? If Dick Nixon could have declared dissent illegal, you can bet yer ass he would have!

It is very likely true that a VC or NVA in his hidey hole was encouraged by dissent in America. But has it occured to you that his next thought might very well have been “Gee, Uncle Ho, how come they can do that and I can’t? If I’m fighting the Americans for freedom and human rights, how come they can disagree with thier government _publicly_? And I can’t?”

We supported freedom by demonstrating freedom. Oh, and by the way…we were right.

And, by the by…Kerry was not a SEAL. That was the other Kerrey. Who has another tragic story to tell. No doubt you heard.

The best Bush ads, in fact among the best political ads ever, are in the comic strip _The Boondocks_.
