You are not being wooshed. Frankly $1850 for a studio in Manhattan is a *good * deal.
I thought they looked decent, about the size of semiprivate study stations in my college’s library… then I saw they were each divided into two!
Yet more sizeism at play here, no way a person of girth could work there.
You want more space, pay for it. Space costs money here, and lots of it.
Educated professionals and people in most industries in NYC (Manhattan) are not as fat as the rest of the country. Being fat is not something people here aspire to.
New York County (Manhattan) is the thinnest County in New York State according to The New York Times. We are a lot thinner than the rest of the country. This article does a really good job of explaining why (boutiques don’t carry over a size 8, gyms everywhere, etc.):
OK. Let us talk. I am sure we can come to some sort of agreement. It doesn’t have to be a subway all the way. ![]()
I cannot believe this discussion has devolved into a Trade Center “fat tax”’ issue. There is no mention of such in their lease documents. ![]()
The PMB rules may still be on the books, but the USPS admitted that ship had long ago sailed. All enforcement efforts against folks not using their PMB designator ended about 6 months after PMB was invented.
IOW, PMB is dead. Whereas “500 Fifth Avenue, Suite 875” really being a private postbox is alive & well.
Okay. It never mattered much to me but I had some associated dealings with people who tried to use PMBs to simulate being a lot bigger and more stable than, well, shysters operating out of their hat.
A lot of the discussion in this thread really seems to be missing the point. Sure, you can get shared office space lots of places, anywhere in the five boroughs or elsewhere, a lot cheaper and with better features.
This is all about the hoity-toity address. Everything else is an aside.
You just don’t understand the struggles the size endowed have had to endure.
Actually, I do. I’ve had a front row seat my entire life. Someone I love dearly is obese but now losing thanks to bariatric surgery and having finally snapped out of her self-imposed “I can’t lose weight” lifestyle.
