I am dying laughing. People have to seriously sit the OP down and tell him to “man up and eat the cherries”. I can’t…

Awesome. Thanks for that little tidbit. (But now the rabbit is pissed at you because she won’t be getting her extra helpings of fresh herbs that aren’t going to last.)

Pit fail or with cherries should that be fail to pit?

Sorry dude you are too weak for sauce. And I make this wonder cherry garlic sauce for steaks.
Whats the over/under for the OP coming back to the thread?

I didn’t know that was allowed; thanks. I just assumed they had to be brought to the checkout in the heavy plastic bags.

Now can I do the same thing with the hamburger buns? 😉

Christ, if the only fruits and vegetables you will eat are cherries, you had better shovel them in while you have the chance. Give your body a little bit of nutrition.

Cherries will be ripe here in about a month. Pick 'em yourself, as many or as few as you want. Eat 'em while you pick until you puke. You’ll never want to see another cherry.

We have a sour cherry tree that is currently loaded down with unripe fruit. Enough for many pies. Problem is they need to be picked the day they are ripe, or else the birds help themselves.

You need to plant more trees. In cherry orchards, birds are not a problem, as they are outnumbered. Birds are happy, people are happy, what’s not to like?

I hated cherry season when I worked in a grocery store. For some reason, even though apples and grapes and countless other produce items are sold by the pound, most people couldn’t seem to understand that it was the same for cherries. So when we had them on sale for $2.99/lb (with a clearly marked signed), people would grab the largest, fullest bag, only to realize that a bag has three-and-a-half or four pounds of cherries in it. Then, when the cashier explained to them why their cherries cost $12, they wanted it voided off the order. And voiding produce was a pain in the ass.

One day when I was on a register, I counted how many customers came to the checkout with cherries, and how many left the store with them. Sixteen takers, but only two actual buyers.

Because most things that are in bags are sold by the bag.

Not grapes, which is why I specifically mentioned them. We stocked our grapes and cherries right next to each other, and the signs were the same as well (with possible variations in the price, obviously). Anyone who spent more than three seconds looking at the display could see that cherries are sold by the pound, and considering that I don’t think I ever had a person be shocked by the price of their grapes, it’s pretty safe to say that most of the cherry-buyers were just idiots.

Uh … I wanted to buy 12 cartons of juice but, to cope with family differences, two apples, two tomatoes, three pomegranates (my favorite), three oranges, and two mixed vegetables. I didn’t want six of the same juice. I’ll just go elsewhere and pay the extra 4 pennies per carton, but thanks anyway.

But is it Makro who does that? My local supermarkets bring the juice in like that from the van; water, milk and juice are usually available both by the “box” (which often is a carbdboard bottom, a plastic wrapper and a handle) and in individual boxes/bottles.

Right? I’m beginning to wonder if the OP just misspelled “Cheetos.”

Also, anybody else reminded of that scene from _Witches of Eastwick_? You know the one.

My biggest problem with cherries this time of year is finding them. I will buy whatever I can find and if I deem the quantity insufficient I will hide them in the second fridge so I don’t have to share them.

The cherries I bought yesterday came in a bag with a zip lock top and I had to cut the seal on the inside. I would have been reluctant to do that at the store. Not that I would need to, fresh cherries don’t last very long in our home.

Especially Rainier cherries.

Even in Door, there is no such thing as “so many cherries it will cause you to never want to see another one.”

Ah, a cherry lover! I dunno; my uncle once ate his fill of strawberries, which he loved, but after he threw them all up, wouldn’t touch another one for his entire life!

First thing that popped into my head after opening the thread!

This is a strange pit thread - I never realized just how passionate people are about their cherries…
