The less automation there is, the less centralized it is, the more difficult it will be for Putin and Trump and the Repubs to cheat. You can’t hack into the paper system. There is no line of code or COUNT function to fuck with. And with each district or city publicly reporting, there is no central “counting house” or “big boss” you can corrupt. ---

The British and Canadians do very well with their voting system. Voting is one area were less automation is better. ---

Tell that to Mayor Daley in 1960. Odds are he gave the election to Kennedy by manipulating physical ballots in Chicago enough to swing Illinois to the D column. On the whole, though, paper is good, but I think it’s just as good as a backup. ---
