Reach Out America said in a Facebook post two days before the White House announced the recipients that they had received a $100,000 donation from Trump. The Washington Post’s David Farenthold reported on Wednesday that Direct Relief, which is dedicated to improving “the health and lives of people affected by poverty and emergency,” received a personal check from the president for $25,000. I doubt he’d have done so without media scrutiny and we have reporting that he wasn’t always so diligent in following through with his pledges. That said, I’m glad to learn he’s finally put his money where his mouth is. ---

On the other hand, he promised a Gold Star father $25,000 and only wrote the check 4 months later when the story broke. I sure hope he has to commit to every Gold Star family the same consideration. Might be the only thing that keeps us out of war. ---

Of course they are all going to end up with the same amount anyway… The absolute stupidity of this offer… Is to be expected. ---

All patriotic Americans should commit to calling for Trump to make that $25K pledge to each and every family that, from now until the end of Trump’s Presidency, receives the Gold Star designation. ---
