I mean, can you ever imagine Trump not giving an interview after being given some great honor? Mr. Self-Important would deliberately sabotage his chance to win twice in a row? It’s just such a transparent, face-saving lie. At best, it’s a lie his people told him to console him. ---

Time saying they don’t comment still allows them to hint to the winner. How long does a Time photoshoot take to complete? Im gonna assume it takes a few hours at the very least. Being President is a time consuming job. Arranging a photoshoot with the President will not be easy. Thus, it has to be organized well in advance. A former long time writer for Time suggests the magazine is not being entirely truthful. She claims the winner does know beforehand. TIME doesn’t notify potential “Person of the Year” candidates, period. It’s like the Nobel Prize in that way–no one is informed of the nomination process beforehand. With their subjects they usually use a file photo or even create an illustration if necessary (for when the recipient isn’t a single person or is an abstract idea). Trump is just trying to do a “I’m gonna break up with you before you break up with me!” face-saving thing… even though he _was_ POTY last year, so what’s his problem? He’s President of the United States and he _still_ has so much insecurity? God, he is such an entitled, _small_, spoiled prick of a human being. It must’ve stung to see the San Juan mayor beating him in that poll, though. Heh. Pretty sweet. ---

Former Time employees are stating that photoshoots with the winner are often arranged beforehand. Let’s just say I doubt the announcement of Times POTY winner is a complete surprise to the winner. Here is yet another former employee at Time. Whilst he disagrees with Trump he also says a few “prospective winners” are often set up for interviews or photoshoots beforehand. I can easily see a scenario where Time tells Trump he is a “possible winner”. After a dose of Trumpspeak a “possible win” turns into a “probable win”. A third(a former editor at Time) states that Time would wrongly dangle the carrot of POTY in front of someone in order to obtain a photoshoot. Sorry for pointing this all out.
