I bring to mind all of the truly intelligent people that I know and I cannot think of any occasion when they’ve felt need to tell me how smart they are. Not once. They very, very often state clearly what they _don’t_ know, and where the limits of their expertise lie, then they ensure they surround themselves with other smart people who can help them. From Socrates to Shakespeare it has been stated that the clever man knows what he doesn’t know. Fuck knows what that means for Trump. ---

Remember when conservatives used to criticize Obama for his supposed ego and arrogance? ISTR lots of criticism based on how Obama apparently thought he was just so fucking smart and all professorial like. Those were good times. Anyway, now we have a guy in office who comes right out and says he thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room. I guess that’s different somehow. ---

Fuck knows what that means for Trump. Sadly there is a lot of people who confuse speed and/or volume with decisiveness and intelligence. One of the seniormost guys at my current project will, if he truly knows the answer to a question, answer it providing cites. If he’s got half an idea, he’ll say he’s sure. And if he’s taking the answer out of where his momma split him, he’ll say he’s sure, sure!!! (so far every time he’s said he was sure-sure he’s also been more wrong than Trump’s 'do). Both his managers and the client’s people are in awe of how much he knows and how decisive he is. ---
