Trump is a giant fucking idiot, but he’s clearly talking about Mueller being Senate confirmed as a special counsel. I don’t know why people think that’s some big faux pas. Being confirmed as FBI director is irrelevant. Whitaker was also confirmed by the Senate for his role as US attorney in Iowa. Regardless, the special counsel isn’t subject to Senate confirmation, so who cares that he wasn’t confirmed to a position that doesn’t require confirmation? ---
