I just pasted about 15 DJT tweets into a word doc and checked the reading level: 6.3 (sixth grade, which is age 12-ish). After you’ve read for a few minutes, you’ll probably feel the need to take a shower. And brush your teeth. And burn whatever clothes you were wearing when you read it. And lie down in a dark room for a month. It’s a tiptoe through the mind of a thoughtless man, both in the sense of having no concern for the feelings of others and in the sense of being incapable of having clear, coherent thoughts in his head. Petty, short-tempered, destructive… and all at the level of a 12-year old boy. And he’s been our so-called President for three weeks. ☹ ---

I really am starting to believe that he is terrified, and wants someone to uncover actual voter fraud in support of him so he can whine about the presidency being stolen from him, but most importantly NOT HAVE TO DO IT ANYMORE. He has a court “thing” going on in South Carolina right now - crooked courts 😃 Something about dumping toxic wastes, wanting the taxpayers to pick up the tab, etc. Trumps’ cleanup claim was denied. So unfair. So sad. Crooked courts. Activist judges. Sob. There were some interesting lies told during the coverage of this. In December Trump’s lawyer represented that this had been taken care of, that the application to evade the responsibility for cleanup was a done deal and a settlement had been reached…SC denying this application would sort of indicate it was not a done deal. Alternative fact or a lie? S.Carolina demanded records that would have shown whether there was a relationship between The Donald and MiniMe Jr. The Donald refused to disclose these records - typical tactic for him, he’s used it before. This is a case of criminal fraud, an attempt to defraud the state for millions of dollars in cleanup. He got caught red handed cheating and trying to steal millions of dollars from the state… Not to mention IRS being something else that needs to be looked at very hard. ---

But… Twitter is limited to what, 140 characters? I don’t Tweet or have Word at home to do an analysis, but it would be interesting to look at other legislators (or any adults) tweets (twitters?) to see how they compare. ---

Oh, I agree. But I think a reading skills analysis that compares him to others using the same medium (twitter) would be interesting. Not that it will show us anything we don’t already know. I hate it, but to be scrupulously fair - I did several tweets of JK Rowling (yes I was totally willing to stack the deck against the Tangerine Nightmare), and she came up as 6.8. The sentence fragments did her in, I suspect. Also, possibly, hashtags. Now, I should find a transcript of Trump vs Clinton and see how it stacks. ---

Yea, I suspect(ed) that a compilation of anyone’s tweets would put them at a sixth grade level. Anyway, there is no reason to not be fair. I don’t want to stoop to his level. Trump has plenty of rope to hang himself with, and a shovel that will not stop digging. ---

Y’all are right about the limitations of analyzing someone’s writing ability using Twitter, given its length limitations. However, the advantage is that these are Trump’s own words, completely spontaneous and unedited, leaping forth from his tiny fingers into the swirling froth that is discourse among world leaders and their publics. Yeah, he’s really exposing himself. :rolleyes: When I copied and pasted, I skipped hashtags and “@”+names. Actually if you just read his Twitter archive page, it’s not rocket surgery to see we’re dealing with a petty, petulant, nasty 12-year old boy (apologies to mature, upstanding 12-year olds). I got into a Facebook exchange with a Trump supporter, started because he was crowing over the fact that Trump won almost half the counties in California.
