And the deficit grew by 50B or something in the period of Feb 8-15. ---

All true. **But it’s even more meaningless than that**. See Kevin Drum’s explanation here: [Donald Trump Obliterates the Deficit! – Mother Jones](http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2017/02/donald-trump-obliterates-deficit). Basically, **monthly deficit numbers are meaningless because they reflect huge variances in tax collection month-to-month**. I didn’t know this, but it’s not that strange for the feds to actually run a surplus in a given month. If I’m reading Drum’s graph correctly, it happened about 20 times during Obama’s two terms - roughly one month out of five. ---
