The Leaf is homely, yes, but don’t bet the farm 'cuz you’d lose your chickens and pigs. There is uglier out there, yessirree. The Leaf is a good try, though - looks only its mother could love. ---

The Crosstour looks like an ugly car because its ass is too big. But other than its enormous posterior it just looks like a car. The Cube looks like a toy, or perhaps an anthropomorphic character in a small children’s straight-to-streaming movie called “Christopher The Car Gets Reconstructive Surgery.” I’m convinced the Cube is, in fact, the very car that was the subject of dealership bets over who could actually sell one to an unwitting customer in the very manner you describe. They probably sat in their offices exchanging $20 bills over which incoming customer would actually be the chump to buy one. I’d like to know how they explained the Cube Pubes or the weird roof liner with a straight face. I mean, the Honda Crosstour isn’t even as ugly as Nissan’s SECOND-ugliest car, the Nissan Juke, which is a positively ridiculous car. It looks like they took the bottom of a normal small SUV and welded on the top of a Mini Cooper. ---

Great car, lots of fun. Back to the 500: when Fiat put Catrinel Menghia in their commercial, I was hooked but admittedly not really looking at the car. The Juke is what happens to the Pathfinder after it gets designed down into the Murano then designed down into the Rogue and then finally the Juke. On the fourth generation of trying to do the same style the inbreeding rears its ugly misshaped head. ---

I searched for ‘ugly car’ in thread titles, not ‘ugliest’, so that’s why that was missed. Reading through that thread, I will say that some ugly cars are “ **initially ugly but have lasting power to eventually become endearing** ”. Or maybe I’m a little on the young side to still call it ugly because it came out in 1948 and I’m a child of the 60s. But, Citroën designs have almost always looked homely to me, even though their powertrains have included some forward thinking concepts. ---

Some of us have been talking about interesting cars for a couple of years now, over in [this MPSIMS thread, **What’s the most interesting car you saw today?**](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=723885). There we tend to share cars that are nice or interesting (and sometimes, ugly). After doing a brief search (that missed the thread that **wguy123** mentioned) I wanted to start a discussion on the ugly designs out there, because I find it flabbergasting that not only did (A) a design team think its looks had some redeeming value, but then (B) a manufacturer pumped ome big buck into actually building it, and then (C) they checked with some folks to make sure it had at least an agreeable (palatable?) design, and then (D) they pushed it in our faces that then (E) caused some of us to do a brief vomit swallow when we reacted to it in real life. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. That, and, Different strokes for different folks. ---

I gotta agree on the Juke. It’s so ugly that it almost looks like there are two cars, one you see from the front and one you see from the back, and both are remarkably ugly. ---

It is, yes, but I also think that the mythical [Shelby Tuatara](http://www.sscnorthamerica.com/tuatara.php) is ugly. And not in the good way that a supercar owner would want. The is something wrong with how it looks that I cannot quite put my finger on. ---

I think the [BMW i3](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ab/BMW_i3_01.jpg) is one of the ugliest cars on the road today. And frankly, the [BMW i8](http://www.bmwusa.com/bmw/api/assets/images/BMWi/BMWi8/BMWi_i8_module4_B4.jpg?v=5fc09bfa5efbb09cf3cd0e73e2d9aad7) isn’t too much better. They actually look worse in person. ---

We have an i3 (leased, all electric, and with incentives from spouse’s company it’s cheaper than we used to pay for gas for his commute). I don’t think it’s ugly–it’s kinda cute IMO–but we both think it looks like a toaster.
