The way glasses stores advertising pricing has always bugged me. “Glasses for only $99 (not including lenses)” or “Buy one pair, get a second pair half price (frames not included)”.
Not including lenses. LOL.
I bought a car from a dealership that included lifetime free oil changes.
When I went to get my first oil change I learned the deal only included draining the old oil and putting in fresh oil. It did not include a new filter or any of the other fluid checks/top offs that normally comes with an oil change package. And the amount they wanted for a filter and the other stuff far exceeded what a regular oil change would cost anywhere else.
Needless to say I never went back for an oil change there again.
Ridiculous. I assume it also didn’t include raising/lowering the vehicle on the lift, removing/reinstalling the oil drain plug, oil disposal fee, etc.
I wouldn’t give $15 for one to begin with. It makes half the heat of a hair dryer and doesn’t have a cord. Placing it directly in an outlet limits it’s placement options. I can’t think of a single outlet in my house that isn’t behind something.
But getting back to the BOGO Free nonsense, it’s right up there with “but wait, the factory is discontinuing production”.
It did, but that’s about it. Changing oil but not the filter is pointless.
Yeah, what’s the deal with these ads claiming production is going to be halted.
A lot of these ads and claims just seem like outright lies. At one time ads like these to nixed by the feds.
Agree.
It appears the fan draws in air within a small gap between the housing and wall receptacle. This will cause high backpressure and will inhibit the flow of air. Thus the fan has to be really powerful (and thus loud) to blow out a sufficient CFM of air.
I also don’t like the idea of having a hot device in such close proximity to a wall receptacle. For a stand-alone heater, there is self-heating in the receptacle due to I²R, where is R is due to the conductors and contact resistances. For this device, there is self-heating in the receptacle due to I²R and thermal conduction through the copper wires/conductors inside the unit.
The one that made me laugh out loud was that universal socket that fits any shape. It’s been on the market since Moses brought down the tablets and is sold under many different names.
I miss the days of those kitchen knife adds that included a bunch of “but wait, it comes with a paring knife, 4 steak knives and a life time guarantee”.
