Yeah, well we only had to ask politely for our independence. None of this ‘War of Independence’ stuff for us. I read the whole Anne series aloud to Mr. Lissar. _Rilla of Ingleside_ is my favourite Anne book. It’s a fascinating inside look at WWI, from a Canadian point of view. I think I learned most of my WWI history from it. Ypres, Courcelette, the Somme, the sinking of the Lusistania, war rationing, and one of the main characters standing in her kitchen shouting death threats at the Kaiser. Good stuff. Happy 4th of July, everyone! I have to eat something and then trot off to work. ---

Well, just got finished cleaning out the departed Lil Lestat[sup]TM[/sup]'s former room. No, sillies, he’s not that kind of departed!! Just moved out on his own…well, with friends. Boy children (with the probably exception of **Mr. Swampington** who collects bath tissue) are very messy and have terrible housekeeping habits. There was so much dust in there I could have stuffed a mattress. Now Mr. Anachi needs to go in there and paint and then we can set it up as a guest bedroom. I’m going to make some barbacue chicken for dinner. I thought that would be yummy for the 4th. Don’t know what I’m having with it. Maybe some tater salad. Yeah, that’d be good. I expect we’ll have the usual combat zone of fireworks tonite. Dog #2 just loves them and won’t come into the house till they are over. It’ll be a late night. Hope everybody has a safe 4th and I’ll see y’all tammory for the TMP. Tupug ---

We went out on the boat at long last! Just for an hour or so, but we filled the tanks (65 gallons worth) and we puttered around enough to know that the heat exchanger is working - the oil temp never reached 160, which is good. I put an ad in Freecycle and another local freebie site and I’ll be getting rid of a bunch of the stuff we found in the shed. A woman is coming in another hour or so to get the gazing ball and the concrete deer - YAY! And tomorrow a guy is coming to get a bunch of the electrical stuff, I hope. It’d be nice if someone would take the 8 lauan door panels (I think they used to be the closet doors in the house) - I hate to take them to the dump… ---

And **that** is what you thought about at work? 😛 **Ashes[sup]2[/sup]** yew ought to be a reporter for the newspaper the way yew tell a story! I believe Joe Don Blatterworth, the editor over at _The Weekly Blab_ is even lookin’ fer somebody right now! If yew need yew some okra, yew jist come on over to my okra patch and git you some darlin’! Specially since yew know how to fry it up the way the Good Lawd intended! That Annie May Collinsford kin jist stand in my front yard til she starves to death (and with all that lard she’s done put on that’d take at least five years!) before I’ll let her have any. White cornmeal batter indeed! Everbody knows white cornmeal batter’s fer hushpuppies and nuttin’ else! They’s trash. All them Collinsford’s. I thank Bobby Lee wuz her 2nd and 6th husbands. Yew’s right ‘bout Jeb Carter bein’ the fourth. I’m thinkin’ JoeBob Timmons was the third, and that Jimmy Lou Turnipseed wuz her fifth, ceptin’ Jimmy Lou turnt out to be a woman so I reckin that don’t really count as a marriage. Funny how it took Annie May three years to figger out Jimmy Lou wuz a woman ain’t it? And, honey, ain’t nobody kin hold a candle to yore pickled okra! I dun give up tryin’ myself. I know folks say mine is good but it jist tastes like somethin’ I wouldn’t slop a hawg with compared to yores! Then agin nobody kin top my peach preserves, so I kin feel good about that. 15 blue ribbons in a row! I say, it ain’t braggin’ if’n it’s the truth! \*\* HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY EVERYBODY!!!\*\* ---

Someone came into work today, and asked… “Are the books in any kind of order?” No. No, they’re not. Actually, they’re arranged in order of staff preference. The ones we like are closer to the door. We have a vote every day on the new books, and shuffle things around accordingly. It was a serious question, too. She wasn’t joking. ---
