Bear in mind that if you do pick up an Xbox, PS2 or GameCube, the newest iterations of the consoles will be coming out in a year or two. The 360 is already out, and the PS3 and Revolution are slated to appear in 2006. New games for the current systems will trickle out, and you’re likely to be asking “Another one? We just got you a game system!” come next Xmas.
Because I have spare time and a camera, here’s a quick picture of what Nintendo handhelds will play what games. Although, as mentioned, the DS will not play SP multiplayer (no cable input)
And, having grown up with games, I’ll let you in on how it was handled in my home:
- Games allowed only after homework and all chores are completed. Any new chores must be done immediately.
- Games get turned off when meals are announced.
- If parents want to use the TV, they get priority.
- Bedtimes are set in stone.
