Yeah, but you know the HBs are gonna spin this somehow. I can see it now “Buzz won’t swear on a bible cuz he knows he’s lying about going to the moon, and he decked Sibrel cuz he’s gonna expose him and ruin his livelihood.”
I wished he hadn’t decked him because we’re going to be hearing drivel like that for years and he just gave more free press to the HBs. Not saying I can’t understand why he decked him, just bemoaning future headaches.

It doesn’t matter. Their case is just so ridiculous that I can’t imagine that it’s going to convince any people other than those who simply enjoy thinking that everything is a conspiracy. It isn’t going to harm anyone to have a few people running around believing the moon landings are fake. It’s just not that important in the scheme of things: it’s like denying that Elvis died, not that the Holocaust happened.

Please note that I, and a few other Dopers live in this area. Any Dopers be interested in making an independent film about this asshole? (I’ve got connections to the independent film community around here, so I could prolly track him down pretty easily. Maybe even ambush him with a **Buzz** Lightyear doll!)

Anyone else think this is hilarious? I’m still laughing. 🙂
To be fair, I think that charges should be pressed. No matter how irritating someone is, punching them for it isn’t ok. OTOH I expect the repercussions to be fairly light.
That being said, were I in Buzz’s position I’d do exactly the same thing. (Well, I’d probably kick rather than punch, but that’s just me.)

When NASA was putting the conspiracy together, the one thing they couldn’t prepare for was having to swear on a Bible…
I’ve always like Buzz Aldrin; he did a lot to help work out the techniques for working in space that are still used. Now of course normally I’d say you shouldn’t punch somebody for being annoying, but this guy is an exception; If I were Buzz and the dickweed kept calling me a liar and trying to convince people that the greatest event of my life was a fraud, I might say to myself, “I’m a 72-year old national hero. What are they gonna do to me?” and punch the guy.

Hey if you are serious you could make an excellent Documentary to counter ther crap these Moon Hoaxers come up with. You interview them get their delusional view get experts to debunk them and interview Psychologists to answer why people believe weird things.
Go to the Bad Astronomer for expert answers. Man that would be a pretty cool documentary especially the ending where you have a confrontation with these dopes.
Ah well wishful thinking.

Bryan: My brush with fame vis a vis the Apollo missions is that Collin’s niece was the attending nurse at the military hospital where I was hospitalized for an appendectomy done wrong (by the same hospital). Lot of people, including me, think she saved my life. Never got to meet her uncle, though.

I think that if you are that obnoxious, you have to _expect_ to get the snot beat out of ya. I think Buzz showed considerable restraint, considering the insult and the threatening manner it was delivered.
Seriously, if someone came running up to you shouting “Swear on this bible” and “you’re a theif”… Would not your first reaction be to fear for your safety? _Then_ get really pissed off? In a perfect world, this guy would have been spitting teeth.
I think Buzz should walk, scot-free.

It started when [they faked the moon landings](http://batesmotel.8m.com/). For no apparent reason. Meanwhile, they also spent billions on covering it up. Obviously the Soviet Union would have known that they faked them, so they’re in on it too. Yet despite this, the Soviets let the US get all the kudos for being first on the moon. Oh yes. Luckily there were ‘whistle-blowers’ at NASA who published tiny little inconsistencies in pictures and so on, to let us all know it was a load of hooey.
You wouldn’t believe how many people (including my boss) think there’s something in this. :rolleyes:
