I was sitting here typing, and the next thing I know, my watch (strapped onto my wrist, ticking along) has expired a horrible death. The little digital screen is blank. Er… okay? I press a few buttons and it restores itself, but now it’s 14 minutes slow–I have to reset it. It’s a new watch, and not cheaply made either. What could have happened? ---

What could have happened? OK, don’t panic. I’m pretty sure you were abducted by aliens, who then performed a standard ‘memory wipe’ and temporal displacement when they were done probing you. Do you have any soreness in the, um, lower regions? Sorry about the watch. Is it under warranty? And does the warranty cover temporal displacement? 😛 ---

Sounds like a dead battery. Is it possible the watch sat on the shelf for a long time before you bougth it? ---

Don’t you see?? You skipped teh space-time continuium, and managed to land yourself 14 minutes in the past. It must be the watch. Do whatever you were doing when this happened, but just payy more attention to it this time, and maybe you can find the secret of time travel. ---

I have a cheap digital watch which works wonderfully, but it’s getting a bit battered. It’s seriously scratched up, but I don’t want to replace it. It’s been such a faithful companion. My mother never replaces her watchbands or batteries. She just buys a new watch, since she wears those cheap Wal-Mart ones. One day I plan to buy her an expensive watch she won’t throw away. ---

My last digital watch died a few hours AFTER I bought a new one… this was after using it for 3 or 4 years without trouble. :eek: It must have known it was dying, and made sure its pet human “purchased” another watch before being called to glory. I’m worried about the omens your digital watch is giving out. ☹ They control time and our minds, though, so it’s probably best not to think about it. \_ \_
