# By Request, Chick Tracts!

When I was a kid my mom worked for a bank, and would get these tracts in some of the envelopes she processed. Back then, I guess these Chick tracts were tamer, or else I just remember them differently, because I kinda liked them. (Of course, even back then, I saw how “simplistic” they made everything.) Bear in mind, I am a Christian, so it isn’t like a generic Christian tract is going to offend me.

The tracts that I saw on the web page do not look at all familiar. I certainly don’t remember any anti-Catholic tracts, or anything anti-Jewish. I guess that all the tracts I remember have been discontinued.

Here’s one for fun, I pulled it off the LBMB. This guy actually is inspired by Jack(off) Chick. But worry not. I left nothing behind, lest we have another invasion of the super fundy-nuts. Enjoy:

comics and learned that Catholics uses pagan things to deceive people.  
When I found out that, I finally renounced my involvement of Roman  
Catholics and practices through name of Lord Jesus Christ. (in Spring  
1995) Then, I felt so joyful!

I got one of these a while back in Fort Lee, NJ (it was left on my windshield). It was folded in with another letter about a child who was stricken with cancer because he hadn’t prayed properly. (WTF!?!) There was a blurb on it for a Korean church, and I’ll admit I was a little surprised because it seemed to me that most Korean churches around here were Presbyterian, not fundie. Anyone know if recent immigrants are a special focus of Chick & friends?

Uh, Jiffy, the whole point of Chick tracts is that the person who passes them out rather than the person who is given them pays for them. The market for Chick tracts is the “soul-winner”, and I imagine that “soul-winners” passing out Chick tracts in bowling alleys nationwide provide Mr. Chick with quite a comfortable living.

It occurs to me that Chick Tracts could be good for managers to use as a disciplinary method for employees. If an employee is uncooperative, or not a “Team Player” (whatever that means) then said employee can be required to read Chick tracts that are selected to be offensive to his/her particular personal/religious beliefs.

Doesn’t that line, “I studied Chick  
comics,” kind of worry you? I’d prefer folks study textbooks and save the comics for entertainment. But that’s just me.

I got a chick catalog in the mail. Its pretty cute, especially like Bad Bob(great for bikers!) it says. I bet. Also The Letter where a lady gets a letter from her friend in Hell. I bet the service from Hell is better than what I get cross-country(postal wise).

I was once the faculty supervisor of the Muslim Students Association at a state university. One day a couple of the students came to me quite upset, saying that another student was giving out [these tracts](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0042/0042_01.asp) that woefully mischaracterized Islam (he didn’t put it that poetically, of course).

After reading a bit of it, I pretty much burst out laughing. I convinced him not to worry, because anyone with any intellect would also laugh at the absurdity of the tract.

The reckless mistakes (or, as another poster points out, the _lies_) are pretty obvious and blatant. I noticed that he tries to play the anti-semitical race card, trying to instill fear that the Arabs will take over America (the comic Arab says “we expect to fly a Muslim flag over the White House…”; comical because there obviously is no such thing as a “Muslim flag”).

Other hilarities included the “fact” that Muslims pray to the “Moon God” and that _Allah_ is not God but some idol (_Allah_ is the Arabic word for God/_Dios_/Yhwh; even Arabic Christians use the word _Allah_).

The assertions are so blatantly false that I must agree with some other posters that Chick intentionally creates and disseminates these lies.

“No, it offends me as a comedian!”
