Many, many posters actually knew her in real life and considered her a real life friend. Can they have a thread where everything is nice and sweet to share good memories? For a minute? Well, damn. I heard about Opal’s death through a trivia game I play with some Fathomites. I’d pretty much dropped out of the whole messageboard thing last year, but had to come back to check this out. Haven’t taken the time to read this whole thread, but did want to add my thoughts. I only met her once, at a ChiDope. I do, however, have a bit of a soft spot in my heart (or is it my head?) for FFF; I was one of the major posters there for a while, partly because it gave me a way to cope after my wife’s death. And if it wasn’t for Fathom I wouldn’t have met my current SO. My condolences to her friends and family. ---

I only met Opal at the ChiDope I helped set up, and she was a trip, to say the least. My son is a little older than hers so it makes me heartsick to imagine what he’s going through now. I hope she’s at peace and I hope he and the people who love her can heal. ---
