Opal was the first person on the SDMB I ever talked to online. I watched her struggle and fight serious and sometimes crippling depression for 13 years, and we tried to help each other a couple of times. We butted heads in public now and then, but privately we shared more, talking as two people suffering from depression can. When my depression was finally cured I hoped that she had also found something to help her, and that she had moved on to happier things, but a review of the items she posted out there recently are saddening. I don’t have any closing words. ---
