Why doesn’t anybody make caffinated pixie sticks? Or do they? It seems like the worlds best idea, combining flavored sugar and caffiene. Anybody want to go on an entreprenuership venture with me? 🙂 ---

I think this is a great idea but 200 mg is too much. They would be banned after about a week when some kid O.D.ed on them. An adult with a high tolerance could probably take about 7-9 before getting sick. As a point of comparison I think Cecil said that a 12 oz. coke had 56 mg. ---

and one cup of coffee has aboug 200mg. it might be a bit of an overkill, so I guess we could down the dosage to about 50mg. We could seriously pull this off, I think. Anybody know a good backer? ---

And if anyone was curious, like me, the LD50 (amount needed to have a lethal effect on 50% of a population) [of caffeine](http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/CA/caffeine.html) for humans is 192 milligrams / kg. So it would only take 35 sticks to kill an awful lot of 75 pound kiddies. ---

Plus you’re forgetting that the targetted demographic for these would be the older, geekier bunch. A friend of mine used to mix pixy sticks with mountain dew all the time. I seem to recall that he actually made a hard candy out of the mix at one point, but it was a long time ago. Oh, a word of warning, if you decide to mix the two watch out for a bit of fizziness. ---
