More brilliance from the Hermanator. Apparently, he thinks the president has the power to overturn Supreme Court decisions of which he disapproves. Now why didn’t other presidents think of that??
The guy is an idiot, but that was pretty clearly a figure of speech. He says right after that that he would “lead the charge” to reinstitute the ban, and he wouldn’t say that if he thought presidents could reverse Supreme Court rulings on their own - he’d just say he would reverse the decision. He’s talking about publicly supporting an amendment, which is stupid because it reflects a stupid opinion, but it doesn’t sound like a misunderstanding of separation of powers. Since Cain’s poll numbers seem to be tanking, it doesn’t matter much.
Sorry to see him sinking – he is the gift that keeps on giving.
I just gotta wonder about the Koch brothers. Is Cain the best their money can buy? They have billions and billions of dollars – you’d think they could afford someone with a few more brain cells and a better education.
Maybe the best brains don’t agree with the Koch’s positions, or want to be in their employ?
Is it true that the brothers are related to Ilse Koch, the “Beast of Buchenwald”?
In Cain’s defense, his statement here was not irrational. He said he would work through Congress on this. That implies he was talking about enacting new laws that would fit within whatever parameters the Supreme Court established in overturning DOMA. Similar legislation was enacted following Furman and Roe - the Supreme Court establishes a broad policy and legislatures start whittling away at the edges.
Surely there must be some very smart soulless intellectual mercenaries out there. There’s a whole industry built around lawyers.
No idea about the family connection, but true or not it’s a great story.
Did he actually say that? Isn’t that from Simpsons - The Movie?
Makes sense – intellectually he’s somewhere between Bart and Homer.
